The EH Garden Club is a civic organization and social group for people interested in any aspect of gardening or landscaping. Founded in 1929, we are proud members of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.
What we do We landscape and maintain town areas at:
the Urn at the Goodspeed triangle,
the 3 pots at the Shagbark triangle, and
the Blue Star Memorial in front of the old Town Hall.
Involving our Youth As part of our mission to promote gardening and related activities and among our young people, we work with students at the Middle School, planting a vegetable garden and maintaining a Butterfly Garden. In addition, we award a $1,500 scholarship to a graduating East Haddam senior.
For Our Community Every November we gather at the Grange and make 100+/- Thanksgiving center pieces for the local food bank. For fun, we organize field trips to notable area gardens, present an annual plant swap, and schedule lectures, presentations and demonstrations … many of which are open to the public.
How we are funded The Club is completely self funded through its annual Plant and Bake Sale. Plants come from members’ own gardens, or from seeds started by our members.
